Cuttack, Jan 17: Tamil Nadu thrashed hapless Himachal Pradesh by 19-0 in a match of the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship, which was inaugurated at the Barabati Stadium here Sunday.
Tamil Nadu rode on a triple hat-trick by NV Sandhiya and hat-tricks each by A Manega and M Priyanka to drub Himachal. ME Daya also scored a brace.
In another match Neha Mukati scored four goals including a hat-trick to help Madhya Pradesh spank Pondicherry 4-0.
The match between Kerala and Gujarat finished with a 1-1 draw. Ayushi Patel of Gujarat drew first blood as early as the second minute. K Manisha restored parity in the 16th minute. Both the teams tried their best to break the deadlock after this, but failed in their attempt.
Avilash in main draw
Avilash Mishra of Orissa qualified for the main draw of the junior singles event in the ITF tournament after beating Kushal Yedla in the qualifying round. Avilash defeated Kushal 6-2, 6-3 in direct sets.
BSNL beat Colts
BSNL defeated Bhubaneswar Colts by 58 runs in a match of the E-League cricket at the IMMT Ground in Bhubaneswar, Sunday.
Put into bat first, BSNL scored 174 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 40 overs with contributions from BBCC Mohapatra (53 n o) and Tukuna Sahu (49), Ashis Pradhan (3/25) bowled well for the Colts.
In reply Bhubaneswar Colts were skittled out for 116 in 35.2 overs. Purna Chandra Lenka (32) was the only batsman to give some resistance with the bat. Sanjay Satpathy (3/25) was the pick of the bowlers for BSNL. BBCC Mohapatra (2/23) also bowled well to pick two wickets and was adjudged the man of the match.
