Teacher, 2 others held for youth’s murder

Titilagarh: Police Sunday busted the mystery shrouding the murder of a youth, whose mutilated body was recovered from a canal inside Satabahani forest under Titilagarh police limits in Bolangir, and arrested three persons, including a teacher, in this connection.

Preliminary probe revealed the murder was fallout of an extramarital affair.

The accused has been identified as teacher Fakir Luha, his wife Madhabi Luha and brother-in-law Bishnu Prasad Mahanand. A case of murder was registered and the three were produced in court, IIC Prabhat Ranjan Mohanty said.

According to the case diary, Bablu Bag (25), son of Parmeswar Bag of Kuskela village, was found dead in a mysterious condition September 9. Bablu was a BJD worker and owned an Ayurvedic medicine store in Titilagarh.

Soon after the body was recovered, an elderly man, Mayadhar Luha surrendered before the police claiming himself as the killer.

However, police suspected the elderly man as he was too weak to kill Bablu, take his body 15km away from Titilagarh and dump it in the forest.

During the probe, police learnt that the elderly man was the elder brother of the teacher. Under suspicion, police detained the teacher who confessed to the crime during probe. They had planned to kill Bablu over an extra-marital affair with his wife Madhabi.

After coming to know that Bablu was having an affair with his wife, the teacher convinced his brother-in-law to eliminate him. They threatened Madhabi and included her in the plan too.

As per plan, Madhabi called Bablu to an isolated place on the pretext of meeting. From there, the three kidnapped him and took him to the forest in a vehicle.

They brutally killed him and dumped the body in the canal, police said. “We have reopened the case and a further probe is on,” the IIC Mohanty said.
