Tele actress Nikita’s father alleges murder, husband detained

Cuttack: A day after tele actress Laxmipriya Behera (32), popularly known as Nikita, died under mysterious circumstances at a private hospital here, her father alleged his daughter was killed in a pre-planned manner.

Based on his complaint, police registered a case and booked Lipun Sahu, husband of Nikita.

Nikita’s father, Sanatan Behera, has lodged the complaint against the victim’s husband and her mother-in-law and father-in-law accusing them of murder.

In his complaint, Sanatan alleged that her daughter was murdered by Lipun as two were not in a good relationship for the last few months.

Nikita, who was known for her roles in TV serial ‘ACP Nikita’ and Odia movies, including ‘Tu Mo Akhira Tara’, ‘Chori Chori Mana Chori’ and ‘Mathare Dei Pata Odhani’ died Saturday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack.

According to the police, the actress was admitted to a private hospital after sustaining head injury in an accident Friday night due to sustained grievous injuries on her head after falling from the roof top of her parental house at Mahanadi Vihar here. Later she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Soon after her demise, an unnatural death case was registered at Markatnagar police station and the post-mortem report is awaited for further investigation to ascertain cause of death, police added.

Nikita, who had married to Lipun of Gopalpur here in 2016 and has a six-month-old son, used to spend her most of time in her parental house at Mahanadi Vihar.

The news of Nikita’s death comes at the time of the death of Samblapuri actress Simran Singh.
