Telecos claim near 100% restoration

Bhubaneswar: The telecom service providers are now picking up the pace to complete restoration of network problems in Fani-ravaged districts of Odisha.

Airtel officials claimed that its teams have worked on war footing to restore 90 per cent of the affected network in cyclone-affected areas of Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Cuttack. Both Airtel and nearly 6 lakh non-Airtel users (through ICR) are benefiting from these efforts.

Chief Operating Officer – Odisha, Bharti Airtel Limited Siddharth Motiwale said, “Our network teams and partners with the support of the government have worked relentlessly to achieve the targets quickly despite the massive damage to the infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio stated that restoration of nearly 92 per cent of all its network sites in Odisha have become operational now. Officials said, “Jio has completed 100 per cent network restoration in the affected districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati. Networks in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were fully restored.”

In other hand, Vodafone-Idea has restored nearly 90 per cent of its networks in 10 affected districts. Officials claimed that over 2,600 sites are now operational connecting people in these cyclone-hit areas.

“The company has managed to simultaneously restore 85 per cent of broadband connectivity enabling its 3G and 4G users to use data services. Having quickly restored high levels of connectivity across 2G, 3G and 4G networks, VIL is also enabling users of other operators to latch onto its network through ICR voice during this critical period,” an official said.
