Cuttack, April 16: Tension erupted at the Ravenshaw University campus here Thursday when students of Plus Three (Commerce) ransacked the office of the vice-chancellor after results of the fifth semester examinations of the course were declared.
Students alleged glaring irregularities in the results. The examination to the Plus III (Commerce) fifth semester was held January 1, 2015. The students were already aggrieved over late declaration of results and had earlier sent a memorandum to the vice-chancellor to declare the results of the examination as soon as possible.
Sources said the enraged students indulged in ransacking of the vice-chancellor’s office. The situation was brought under control after an assurance was given by varsity authorities that their grievances would be heard and resolved as soon as possible.
Sthitaprajna Das, president of Ravenshaw University students’ union, said the students will continue agitating. “Students are enraged over irregularities in the results. We will continue to agitate till authorities give in to our demand for re-evaluation of answer sheets,” Das said.
