Tension in Aska as locals set wine shop on fire

Aska: Tension gripped Pitala village under Aska police limits in Ganjam district Monday after angry villagers set a liquor manufacturing unit on fire in the locality.

Over a hundred villagers, mostly women ransacked the liquor factory and set fire to various items, including liquor bottles and containers.

The activists alleged that cases of various crimes, including domestic violence and eve-teasing are on rise in the area due to frequent consumption of liquor by the locals.

The mob also demanded closure of all liquor shops and manufacturing units in the locality at the earliest. However, no police or district officials had reached the spot till the last report came in.
