Chandbali: Tension prevailed at Baghanata village near here in Bhadrak district after the bodies of three workers, who were buried alive in a trench wall collapse in Hyderabad three days ago, reached their homes.
Demanding action against the employer, family members refused to take the body. They demanded necessary compensation for the families and arrest of the employer and the middleman who had taken the three including minor Bikash for work in Hyderabad.
The deceased were brothers Prakash Mahalik (18) and Bikash Mahalik (17) – sons of Sahadev Mahalik of Baghanata village – and Manash Sahu, son of Khetrabasi Sahu of Jajpur.
Based on a complaint by co-workers, Hyderabad police had taken the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. After this, the bodies were sent to their villages. Surprisingly, no local police reached the village to take stock of the situation.
