Tension prevails at Titilagarh hospital after woman dies due to alleged ‘wrong injection’

Titilagarh: Tension prevailed at a hospital in Titilagarh following the death of a woman due to alleged medical negligence Thursday, a source said.

The deceased was identified as Binodini Chhatar, who was the wife of Bimal Chhatar from Sihini village in Bolangir district.

According to the source, Binodini was pregnant and was admitted to Mother and Child Hospital in Titilagarh February 2, 2024. The next day, she gave birth to a stillborn child. Afterwards, she was kept under medical care as she had developed some health issues.

However, the family members of the deceased alleged that Binodini died just five minutes after a doctor administered an injection to her Thursday.

“My wife was supposed to be discharged from the hospital. She was given an injection and she died soon after. We suspect that there was something wrong with the injection,” husband of the deceased Bimal Chhatar alleged.

On being informed about the tension, Titilagarh SDPO rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the family members of the deceased.

Sub-Divisional Medical Officer said that the exact reason behind the victim’s death can be ascertained after a post-mortem.

Police have launched an investigation in this regard.
