Bhubaneswar: After nearly eight months, the state government is going to resume tests for issuing learner’s licence (LL) with effect from November 16, Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said in an order.
In view of Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown, the LL service has remained suspended since March 25, 2020.
The LL applications filed by vehicle owners who have already paid for LL test will remain valid and slot booking will be available from November 12 at 11 am. Thereafter test slots will be open for booking from 7am to 10pm every day, the order said.
Only existing LL applicants can book the slot. They have a better chance to book their favourite slot at 7am every day.
However, no new applicant can apply for LL now. The date of fresh applicants to apply for new LL will be notified later. The slots will be of 15-minute duration which will include 10 minutes of test time.
Candidates can undergo the LL mock test in www.parivahan.gov.in. A candidate has to answer at least 12 out of 20 questions correctly to get through the test. The candidates are not allowed inside the office prior to more than 45 minutes of the slot time. LL applicants must have to wear masks and follow social distancing norms at the testing centre/office.
The government will not allow any applicant from Containment Zones for the LL test. In case, any such applicant tries to enter any RTO office, police action will be taken.
Similarly, applicants with symptomatic sign of Covid-19 will not be allowed for the test.
The Transport Commissioner has advised all applicants not to bring their friends and relatives with them to the office.
In case of emergent situation due to Covid pandemic leading to shutdown of the office, the test will be cancelled at short notice.
