These people have danced their way to the ‘Crorepati Club’ 

They have literally danced their way into the ‘Crorepati Club’ and have gained fame in the process. Well these people are multi-talented and dab in various things. However, their claim to fame at the start was choreography, which later on opened the doors for them in acting, directing or producing films. Choreographers Prabhu Deva, Farah Khan or for that matter Remo D’Souza have assets worth crore of rupees today. Orissa POST takes a look at some of the wealthiest choreographers in India.

Ahmed Khan: This Mumbai-born choreographer was a child actor in the Anil Kapoor, Sridevi-starrer Mr India. However, since then Ahmed Khan hasn’t been seen on screen as he prefers to work behind it. Ahmed Khan has choreographed a number of songs in films like Taal, Ghajini and Kick. He got the ‘Filmfare and IIFA Best Choreography’ awards for Kick in 2015. Currently Ahmed Khan is a judge on the reality show ‘Nach Baliye-Season 9’ with Raveen Tandon. This ace choreographer had narrow shaves with death twice. He shot atop the Twin Towers in New York before the buildings were destroyed by terror attacks September 11, 2001. He also had a hotel booking in 2004 which he cancelled at the last moment. The hotel was destroyed by a tsunami the next day.

Ahmed Khan has properties worth Rs 25 crore.

Ganesh Acharya: This renowned choreographer has a Odia connection. Ganesh’s father D Gopi, also a choreographer, passed away when he was only 10. Ganesh Acharya then moved to Cuttack where he learnt the basics of dancing and formed his own dance group when he was only 12. Later he shifted back to Mumbai. Ganesh has been the choreographer in a number of hit films like Khakee, Rang De Basanti, Phir Hera Pheri, Golmaal, Omkara and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. This choreographer went on to win the Filmfare award for the song ‘Beedi’ from the film Omkara.

Currently Ganesh has properties to the tune of Rs 40 crore.

Remo D’Souza: This choreographer is more known for his work as dance director in Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Student of the Year and ABCD. His first directorial venture FALTU was a moderate success at the box office. Remo D’Souza has been a judge on a number of TV reality shows like Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Dance India Dance and Dance Champions. Remo has won a number of Zee Cine Awards.

His total assets are worth Rs 45 crore.

Farah Khan: Even though she has acted, produced and directed films, Farah Khan is more known as one of the most respected and renowned choreographers in the country. She has choreographed more than 100 dance routines in over 80 films. She has also won six Filmfare Awards. Farah has also directed movies like Main Hoo Na and even choreographed a song (Hips Don’t Lie) for the international pop diva Shakira. She has also been the judge in a number of reality shows.

Her total movable and immovable assets are worth Rs 55 crore.

Bosco Martis: This choreographer works jointly with Caesar Gonsalves and the duo is popularly referred to as Bosco-Caesar. They run dance schools at Brampton, Scarborough, Mumbai and Kolkata. The duo won the ‘National Film Award for Best Choreography’ for the song ‘Senorita’ from the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in 2011. For the same song they got the Filmfare Award also. The duo made their debut with Mission Kashmir in 2000. However even though they work as a pair, it hasn’t prevented Bosco from amassing a huge wealth.

His current assets are worth Rs 84 crore.

Prabhu Deva: The father of all choreographers Prabhu Deva has directed, acted and produced films. He has choreographed songs in Hindi, Telegu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films. Prabhu Deva was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019 for his contribution in the field of arts. He has also two National Film Awards for Best Choreography and a Filmfare Award.

This legendary dance personality has assets worth Rs 250 crore.
