Thief steals tech gadgets worth Rs 2 lakhs

Bhubaneswar : Miscreants again had a field day in Chandrasekharpur area stealing valuables worth over two lakhs in two different incidents Saturday morning. The looters targeted the students and young tech employees residing in the area. The locals claimed that similar incidents of theft have been occurring in the area regularly.

According to sources, several young tech professionals working in major software companies like Infosys, TCS and Tech Mahindra have been staying on the ground floor of a rented house on lane No1 in Sector 5 of Niladri Vihar. One of them went outside for morning walk, Saturday, leaving the door ajar. His roommates were also busy in performing the morning routine.

The miscreant, taking advantage of the situation, entered the room and stole three costly mobile phones worth around Rs 75,000, silver bracelet valued at Rs 20,000 and several wallets containing around Rs 25,000 in cash.

Similarly, in another incident, the looters stole one laptop (Sony VIO) of Rs 50,000, two mobile phones worth Rs 40,000, wallets of several students containing around Rs 30,000 cash from a boy’s hostel located at VIM 562 in Shailashree Vihar area under the Chandrasekharpur police stations.

The house owners of the two hostels have lodged different complaints with Chandrasekharpur police in this regard Saturday.

Notably, police is yet to arrest the robbers who looted household articles worth more than Rs 10 lakh by holding a five-month-old baby at knife-point in Kanan Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits February 27.
