Thieves loot Dhenkanal excise cop’s house, probe on

Dhenkanal: An excise Inspector’s house was allegedly looted Thursday at Jiridamali village under Kamakhyanagar block in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, a source said.

The officer was identified as Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, who is posted in Kamakhyanagar block.

According to the source, the thieves looted cash amounting to Rs2-3 lakh and gold jewellery weighing about 80 grams from Sharma’s rented house when he was out of Odisha because of some personal reasons.

The source added that Sharma went to Kolkata July 3 to bring her daughter and while returning back to Jiridamali village his neighbour informed him about the loot.

Sharma has contacted the IIC of Kamakhyanagar and an inquiry has been initiated, the source further added.

Police have filed an FIR and launched a probe to nab the thieves.
