Bhubaneswar: Taking a step towards building sustainable coastal ecosystems, through innovative strategies and collaborative efforts in the state, a three-day ‘Mangrove Patha Utsav’ organised by Socratus Foundation and Nature’s Club, started here, Sunday. The event was organised in collaboration with Bhubaneswar’s Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, State Museum, Enhancing Climate Resilience of India’s Coastal Communities (ECRICC), Bakul Foundation and other network partners.
Bringing together representatives from communities, government departments, think tanks, market operators, practitioners, academicians and civil societies, the event focused on developing and implementing sustainable solutions and coastal economy for the state’s mangrove landscapes. The opening day featured consultations with ECRICC project implementers. Outgoing Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena inaugurated a booklet on ‘Climate Recipes’. The booklet is concise, and intimate and comprises different ideas from architects, journalists, scientists, activists, artists and farmers that suggest different ways of reorienting the vision for a flourishing planet and coastal ecosystem. Socrates Foundation director Devjit Mittra said, “The opening day sessions highlighted the critical need for collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by Odisha’s coastal ecosystems. The launch of the ‘Climate Recipes’ is a testament to the collective wisdom and dedication of all stakeholders involved.”
