Three electrocuted by live wires on paddy fields

Baleshwar/Bhadrak: Three people were electrocuted in separate incidents in Baleshwar and Bhadrak districts after coming into contact with live electric wires laid on paddy fields to keep away stray cattle.

In Baleshwar’s Simulia area, Babuli Das, 52, had allegedly connected a live wire around his paddy nursery Friday evening. He was electrocuted Saturday while inspecting the field after forgetting to disconnect the power supply.

Parbati Munda, 60, who rushed to rescue him, also got electrocuted. Fire services personnel shifted both victims to Simulia hospital, where doctors declared them dead. In Bhadrak district, Buddhiram Singh, 30, died after coming into contact with a live wire while fencing his paddy field.

Family members rushed him to Bhadrak DHH, where he was declared dead.
