Three hurt in bike-borne miscreants’ snatching bid

Bhubaneswar: Three persons sustained severe injuries while resisting bike-borne snatchers’ bid at different places in the Capital Saturday. The injured were identified as Ajay Routray and his wife from Jagatsinghpur and Yojanagandha Mohanty of Mancheswar.  Meanwhile, Yojanagandha’s husband who was driving the motorcycle escaped with minor injuries.

Ajay is an employee at Diamond Dry Cleaners at Unit IV area while his wife also works at the Nilakantha press just a few metres away from the dry cleaners. The couple, who has been staying in the city along with their children, was going to their village in Jagatsinghpur on their scooter Saturday afternoon. Two-bike borne miscreants on a motorcycle snatched away the vanity bag of Ajay’s wife at Rasulgarh flyover.

The couple lost their balance and fell off the scooter sustaining severe injuries. Ajay’s right leg and hand got fractured while his wife sustained grave injuries.

Similarly, Mohanty along with her husband was going to Khurda to her in-laws house. Interestingly, they encountered the snatching incident involving the Routray couple at Rasulgarh flyover before they themselves fell victim to the snatchers at Jaydev Vihar flyover just a few minutes after.

However, the snatchers failed in their bid to snatch the bag but she fell off the bike and sustained head injuries while her husband had minor scratches.
