Odisha govt employees held for 'misappropriation' of over Rs 9 crore

Bhubaneswar: Three more Odisha government employees were arrested for allegedly being involved in the “misappropriation” of public funds of around Rs 9.24 crore, taking the total number of apprehended persons in the case to nine, the vigilance department said Saturday.

A senior accountant at the district treasury office in Bhubaneswar, a senior assistant at the Puri Road and Building Division of the Works Department and a peon working at Bhubaneswar Road and Building Division were apprehended, the anti-corruption agency said.

The case involves the alleged misappropriation of public funds amounting to around Rs 9.24 crore in the office of the Superintending Engineer, R&B Division-I, Bhubaneswar.

Six other accused were arrested September 27 and remanded to jail custody.
