Three of a family get trapped in live wire; two dead, one injured

Amarpali:  A man and his son died while another son sustained grievous injuries late Thursday night after they came in contact with a live electric wire, said to be laid out for poaching wild animals.

The incident took place at Pitamahul village under Subalaya police limits of Birmaharajpur block in Subarnapur district.

The deceased have been identified as 57 years old Sahadev Sahu and his 38 years old son Devanand Sahu. The injured one is Sahadev’s younger son Arupananda Sahu (25).

According to a source, an 11 KV wire had been laid out for poaching at Baurijor jungle near Pitamahul village. Thursday night Sahadev, Devanand and Arupanand had gone to the jungle when they accidentally came in contact with the wire. Sahadev and Devanand died on the spot.

Even though Arupananda was severely injured, he managed to come to the village and informed the villagers about the incident. He was first rushed to Sonepur district headquarters hospital and then shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated.

Local police reached the spot on being informed and are probing the incident further. The bodies were handed over to the family members following a postmortem.
