BHUBANESWAR: Three Oriya movies will clash at movie theatres this Durga Puja season. Film production houses are releasing their high-budget films during the season every year in the hope to live up to the expectations of the audience. This year will be no exception. As many as three Oriya movies – Shiva Not Out, Kabula Barabula Searching Laila and Hero No-1– starring actors Arindam Roy, Anubhav Mohanty and Babushan, will respectively will hit the theatres this Dussehra. Directed by Sudhanshu Sahoo, Shiva Not Out features Arindam and Archita as leads. Music for the movie has been composed by Prem Anand and the film has been produced under the banner of Ratna Films, Arindam’s home production. Superstar Anubhav is all set to rock the silver screen with all guns blazing this Dussehra in Ramesh Rout-directed Kabula Barabula Searching Laila. While Elina is seen opposite the Balunga Toka actor, other major characters have been played by Harihar and Pradyumna Lenka. The movie’s music has been scored by Prem Anand. Hero No-1 featuring chocolate boy Babushan and Bhumika Dash will also be a part of the triple clash at box-office this Puja season.
The movie has been directed by Tapas Sargharia and music composed by Abhijit Majumdar. Director Sudhanshu Sahoo said his film has a blend of romance, action and emotion. “I wish people will like it. He said that after GST declaration, the film world had a lot of fear about the film’s profitability. But now, as the people had understood the rules of GST, I think we can expect some profit,” he added. Arindam Roy said his films Shiva Not Out is a love story. “I play Shiva which is a very strong character. But it has a disability and Shiva needs to get over his own
mind to beat the villains in his life. Arindam, who had turned producer with his film Kalki, said as a producer it was a challenge to manage all things together. As a producer, he had to work 24×7 and, “being the hero in my film, I had to look fresh without any sleep at all.” So it is difficult to be both actor and producer in a film, he said. Lingaraj Pradhan of Maharaj Theatre said that this Durga Puja season, we can expect some good profit. “The Durga puja season is a long holiday and we can expect a huge gathering.” He said there will be a tough fight form the Hindi films like Newton starring Rajkumar Rao, Haseena Parkar starring Shraddha Kapoor, Bhoomi starring Sanjay Dutt and Judwaa starring Varun Dhawan.
This films will be released in the coming two Fridays. Every Dussehra, a number of Oriya films are released with high hopes. “So, the Oriya films have a lot of challenges to face because the screens will be shared between all these films. Also, due to lack of enough single screen theatres, Oriya films sometimes lack the screens. During Durga Puja last year, Baby, Tora Dina Ku Ku Mora Dine and Love Pai Kuch bhi Karega were released but all films had failed to win praise. Hope, this year it will be a different story,” said Sriram Ray, a film expert.
