Thunderstorm likely at some districts in the state

Bhubaneswar:  The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Monday issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for many districts of north and south Odisha in the next 24 hours. The bulletin said thunder storm with gusty wind and lightening is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north Odisha, (Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Baragarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh , Mayurbhanj)and Kandhamal, Raygada of south Odisha during next 24 hours

The satellite image Monday indicates thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind occurred at some places and light to moderate rain in parts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Jajpur districts,”.

In the capital city Monday the weather was cloudy nd windy. The bulletin also advised people to remain alert during the period.

The Met department has predicted rainfall activity with thunderstorm and lightning at some places for the next five days, till March 22, under the influence of a cyclonic circulation formed over Vidarbha and its neighbourhood at 0.9km above the mean sea level.

Earlier The Regional Met Department Sunday had forecasted thundershower in some districts for next 4-5 days.

On 18th March, thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightening is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha including Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

On 19th, light rain or thundershower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

On 20th, light rain or thunder-shower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.

On 21st, thunder storm with gusty wind and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal and Cuttack.
