Bhubaneswar: Shilpi Swarupa Das, Anaam Almas and Chinmay Pradhan registered comprehensive victories over their respective opponents in the opening day of the inaugural edition of the Orissa Tennis Premier League (OTPL) here at the Kalinga Stadium, Sunday.
Shilpi, playing for Sundargarh Veerans blanked Aneesha Mukherjee of Cuttack Conquerers 7-0 in the women’s singles match. However, later in the day pairing up with Suraj Sahu, she lost the mixed doubles match 1-7 against Aneesha and Sunil Palei.
Representing Puri Wavers, Annam won her singles encounter quite easily against Ayesha Swain of Bhadrak Victors beating her 7-0. She along with Santosh Kumar Mallick defeated the pair Ayesha and Manoj Kumar Nayak 7-1 in mixed doubles later in the day.
On the other hand, Chinmay Pradhan of Khurda Warriors got better of Sudhanta Sekhar Mohanty Kedrapara Contenders in the men’s singles match 7-3 but along with Henamika Karina Sahu had to sweat it out against the pair Rutuparna and Chandrasekhar Mohanty in the mixed doubles match winning 7-6(5).
