Bhubaneswar: Sundargarh thrashed Jagatsinghpur 3-0 in a match of the Senior Women’s Inter-District Football Championship at Titlagarh, Thursday.
Sundargarh dominated the match completely with Laxmi Majhi (12th), Sumitra Hembram (28th) and Diptirani Kujur (39th) scoring a goal each in the game.
In another match at the same venue, Bhubaneswar-B defeated Sambalpur by two goals. Lochan Munda (41st) and Subhadra Sahoo (51st) were the scorers for Bhubaneswar-B.
At Keonjhar, in another game Bhubaneswar-A pipped Puri by a solitary goal. Malati Munda scored the all important goal of the match in the 43rd minute.
In the second match at this venue, Kendrapara defeated Keonjhar 2-0 with Menaka Malik (60th) and Jyostana Malik (70th) scoring the goals.
JMD in semis
JMD, Bhubaneswar sailed into the semifinals of the Santosh Memorial cricket tournament after scripting a two-wicket win over Thunder-XI in the second quarterfinal match at Rasulgarh, Thursday.
Batting first, Thunder-XI were bowled out for 99. Dipu Sahoo (38, 14b) batted well. Manoj Khatua (4/19) was the wrecker-in-chief for JMD. In reply, JMD notched up the target in 11 overs.
Sepak Takraw teams
Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association (OSSTA) announced both the boys’ and the girls’ teams for the School National Sepak Takraw Championships at New Delhi, January 2-9. The squads: (Boys) Samuel Murmu, Samar Kumar Sahoo, Satyajit Behera, Anil Rout, Satyanarayan Behera; (Girls) Anupama Dalei, A Sravani, Laxmipriya Mohanty, Sangita Kissan, Jerina Kulu.
