Town Club drub Paramount Sporting

Bhubaneswar, June 2: Hosts Town Club fine tuned their resources before the semifinals of the Town Club Junior Cricket League by beating Paramount Sporting by 70 runs here Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, Town Club scored 144 runs in 30 overs losing seven wickets in the process. Ashwini Mohapatra (55) starred with the bat while Aniket Patnaik (23) and Supratik Panigrahi (21) played the perfect supporting role. Ashutosh Nayak and Janmejaya Purti took three and two wickets respectively for Paramount Sporting.
In reply, Paramount were bundled out for just 74 runs in 25.2 overs as Aniket (5/8) wreaked havoc with the ball. He was ably complimented by Suresh Sharma and Binayak Mohanty, who took two wickets each. Aniket was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round show.
The first semifinal will be played between Town Club and Saheed Sporting, June 4 while in the second BBCA will meet Paramount Sporting, June 5.

 
Exhibition match
Exhibition matches conducted by Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association were played Monday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. In the men’s category, Cuttack District defeated Cuttack City 2-0 while in the women’s segment, Cuttack City beat Cuttack Sadar team by an identical margin.

 
Police sports
In the handball event of the 72nd State Police Sports Championships, Keonjhar, Cuttack OSAP and Bolangir won their respective matches in Sambalpur, Tuesday.
(Results): Keonjhar bt Sambalpur 20-8, Cuttack OSAP bt Koraput 14-6, Bolangir bt Koraput Upper Club 8-5.
