Triangular love: Killer doc, servant held

Berhampur: A senior doctor of sub-divisional hospital, Chhatrapur and one of his servants were arrested Monday on charge of killing a bank agent and chopping off his body parts before burying them in a dumping yard.

Hrusikesh Tripathy (55), surgery specialist and owner of a private clinic near New Bus-stand here and his servant Bidhan Sethi (35) were arrested for killing Bishnu Prasad Gouda of Bania village.

Police said the doctor was nabbed at Bhubaneswar Sunday. Earlier, police had arrested Ganga Behera (50) another servant of the doctor in this murder case.

Police seized two blood stained surgery blades, three gloves, four empty saline bottles, Gouda’s bike keys and a pair of shoes from his clinic.

According to police, Gouda was in a relationship with a nurse who worked in a private clinic in Berhampur. The two continued their live-in relationship even after his marriage. Later, the nurse shifted her job and joined Tripathy’s clinic where she developed a relationship with him. However, she continued to live with Gouda which infuriated Tripathy.

In an act of revenge, he befriended Gouda and called him to his house on pretext of coffee. He then gave a sedative injection after which Gouda fell unconscious. He then decapitated his head and chopped off his body and limbs into pieces and packed them in separate polythene bags.

Later, he called his two servants who loaded the polythene in a car and dumped it in a waste pit near Tripathy’s clinic.

Gouda’s family members lodged a missing persons’ complaint after he did not return home. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Ganga who confessed to the crime after which the body was exhumed after 25 days.

Since then, Tripathy was on the run and was arrested from Bhubaneswar Monday. During interrogation, he confessed to have eliminated Gouda to win the nurse.  “Doctor killed Gouda in order to remove him permanently from the life of the nurse,” said SP (Berhampur) Pinak Mishra.

“It was a pre-planned murder. First, the doctor gave an injection to Gouda. He then cut his body into pieces and packed them in polythene bags which were dumped in a waste pit, about 22km away from Berhampur. He was assisted by his two servants to carry out the heinous crime,” the SP briefed media.

“Though the doctor has confessed to the crime, we are waiting for the post-mortem report to know about the type of injection he had injected Gouda with,” the SP said.
