Sajanagad: A tribal girl was reportedly molested by a conductor in a moving bus here in Balasore district Sunday. Relatives of the girl thrashed the conductor.
The girl of Sirhasahi, studying in a college, boarded the bus (OD-11-B3999) on way back home. The bus was crowded. Taking advantage of the rush, conductor Pradip Sahu allegedly molested the girl.
The victim informed her relatives over cell phone about the incident.
Hundreds of tribals blocked the Nilagiri-Kaptipada road at Jamuna Chhak. As the bus arrived there, the angry mob attacked the accused, leaving him critically injured.
Berhampur police rushed to the spot and sent the conductor to Nilagiri hospital.
Police recorded the statement of the victim. The passengers had to suffer a lot as the bus was detained for a few hours. The family of the girl was at Berhampur police station to lodge a complaint when this report was filed.
