Bhubaneswar: Innovator and disaster awareness campaigner Trilochan Sahoo has been conferred with a national award for innovation by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, under Ministry of Education.
Sahoo was recognised for his innovative initiative of creating school safety walls in schools and public places to spread awareness about natural disasters and safety measures. As part of the award, he received a certificate, a silver plaque and a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The guests appreciated Sahoo’s efforts to promote disaster preparedness and safety awareness among students and the wider community. Through his initiatives, he has directly and indirectly engaged thousands of students, teachers and parents in awareness programmes and training on disaster management and safety.
His school safety-wall initiative has been successfully implemented in several schools in Jajpur district and in schools in Anandpur block of Kendujhar district. Sahoo also regularly conducts awareness programmes for students and members of the public on disaster preparedness and safety. Sahoo is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics with a focus on climate change at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada.
