Two acid attack survivors discharged from SCB Hospital

Cuttack: Two acid attack survivors, who were undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital here, were discharged Tuesday.

The district legal service authority, social activists and SCB Hospital were very happy that Damayanti Bihari of Kalahandi district and Minati Pradhan of Berhampur were completely cured after getting treated.

Expressing gratitude, Minati and Damayanti said the encouragement has helped them become mentally strong. “The acid attacks have not discouraged us and we will continue to work as normally.” they said.

Minati, a third-year diploma student, was attacked with acid by her husband on the MKCG Medical College campus in Berhampur November 16, 2017.

Similarly, a jilted youth had thrown acid on 22-year-old girl Damayanti of Kalampur under Jaipatana police in Kalahandi district January 15 after she rejected his proposal.  She was first rushed to Kalampur CHC with burn injuries on her face and hands and then shifted to the District Hospital and subsequently to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.

The police January 22 had arrested Parshuram Majhi of Bankapada village for acid attack on Damayanti from neighboring Andhra Pradesh.
