Two drowning women rescued from Puri sea

Puri:  Two drowning women were rescued by lifeguards and fire brigade personnel at Puri sea beach Sunday.

The women have been identified as Sandhya Kundu, a resident of West Bengal and Reena Sinha, a resident of Sector-II in Tata Nagar.

According to a fire brigade official, Sandhya and Reena had been to the sea beach to take bath Sunday morning. They were swept away by the sea current.

Acting quickly, lifeguards present on the scene jumped into the sea and managed to rescue the women with the help of fire brigade officials. Following primary treatment, their health condition is stated to be stable.

Notably, a drowning woman tourist Nilabati Sahoo was rescued by a lifeguard in the sea near Swarga Dwar in Puri October 10. Nilabati along with her family had been to the sea beach to take bath in the morning. She was swept away up to 100 metres by the sea current.
