Khurda/Krushnaprasad: Tension flared up at Kahneipur of Banpur police limits under Chilika constituency in Khurda district after a clash erupted between two groups belonging to the BJP and BJD.
The group was engaged in fisticuffs and in the melee BJP worker Chandan Majhi (29) sustained injuries. He was immediately rushed to Banpur government hospital. Police forces reached the spot and the brought situation was under control.
In another incident police arrested a poll agent for casting his vote on more than one occasion in Bajrakote booth No.7 of Krushnaprasad block in Puri district. Tension prevailed for sometime in this booth, but thankfully the situation did not escalate.
Gilinasi’s booth No. 20 also witnessed tension after a clash ensued between two groups. While a villager Rabindra Pradhan was injured in the group fight, police arrested Pradeep Pradhan of the same village.
Extra police personnel were posted at the booth and voting since then has been peaceful.
