Dhenkanal: At least two persons were killed and another sustained critical injury after a motorbike they were travelling plunged into a river at Alua Jharana in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal district Sunday.
According to reports, the two-wheeler plunged into the river when the motorcycle driver lost control over the wheels. Two persons died on the spot while the injured was rushed to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Tutu Patra (28) and Bulu Patra (25) from Alatuma village in Kamakhyanagar.
Meanwhile, 50-year-old man was killed after his bike was hit by an unknown vehicle on NH-53 near Alatuma village Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Banua Nayak of Alatuma village.
Nayak was returning home after finishing some pending work in a nearby village when the incident doccurred at around 9 PM. The driver of an unidentified speeding vehicle lost control over the wheels and hit him from behind.
The victim died on the spot due to grievous head injury.
Angry locals blocked the highway for at least two hours following the mishap and demanded compensation to the next of kin of the victim.
