Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: After issuance of notification for auction of one iron ore mine, the state government has put two more limestone mines on the block under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2015. “Garramura block in Nuapada district and Khatkurbahal in Sundergarh district have been placed for online auction,” Director of Department of Mines, Deepak Mohanty said.
“So far, we have put three mines which include one iron ore mine on online auction for the purpose of granting mining lease.” Notification for two limestone mines have been issued Tuesday, he added. The state government had issued notification for online auction of Ghoraburahani-Sagasahi East iron ore block of Sundargarh district in December 2015.
While the Garramura limestone block in Nuapada district has ore reserves of 2.79 million tonne, Khatkurbahal has deposits of 9.9 million tonne, Mohanty said adding that the auction process will be completed by end of March this year. Mohanty said while the last date for purchase of tender document is February 5, 2016 and the last date for submission of bid is February 10, 2016. Earlier, a committee under the development commissioner had approved 12 iron ore, manganese, limestone and bauxite mines for auction. “The DGPS survey of 10 mines has been completed and the state government is in the process of issuing notification for auction of other mineral blocks,” official sources said.
