A sum of Rs 7.5 crore has been allocated for the project and the Centre has engaged a consultancy firm to oversee the stadium construction.
The state government has also sanctioned an outdoor stadium for the city under the Abadha scheme. Sources said the state has planned to spend around Rs 40 crore on the project.
According to sources, the district administration had recently convened a high-level meeting to finalise locations for the two stadiums. “Collector Aravind Agarwal has proposed to construct the outdoor stadium on a piece of land at Samang mouza. At present, the land is under the possession of public health engineering organisation (PHEO). It is learnt that the Centre has asked the consultancy firm to prepare a detail project report (DPR) for the indoor stadium. Sources said the stadium will be constructed on four acre land and it will have sitting arrangement for around 1000 spectators.
“The administration is yet to finalise a location for the indoor stadium. But steps are being taken resolve the issue at the earliest,” added the official.
