Ultras kill youth in Chitrakonda

Malkangiri: Four years after killing a village-guard in the cutoff area of the district, Maoists late Friday night murdered his son in Chitrakonda branding him as a police informer.

The deceased was identified as Biswanath Khila of Handikhal village under Chitrakonda police station.

It may be mentioned that Biswanath’s father Manik Khila, who worked as a village guard of Handikhal, was killed by the ultras in 2012. The family later left the village and stayed in Chitrakonda.

However, Biswanath went to Handikhal village to attend a marriage function Friday. After attending the function he was sleeping in his home. On getting a clue about his presence in the village, at least 20 ultras called him out of the house, took him to a secluded place and killed him by slitting his throat.

As he did not return home after a few hours, the family members searched for him and found his body along a road.

Biswanath’s uncle Kamal Lochan Khila lodged a complaint with Chitrakonda police. A case was registered and investigations were on.

Chitrakonda officer-in-charge Pitabas Dharua said measures were being taken to bring the body to Chitrakonda to conduct post mortem.

Panic gripped the area after the incident.
