Jajpur: A youth was killed after the under construction main gate of Brahmakunda, an ancient tank carrying mythological importance, near Biraja temple in this district, caved in and a large piece of stone fell on him Monday 10 am.
Sources said the youth, belonged to Devidwar area under Jajpur municipality, was standing near the under construction gate when the mishap occurred.
He was immediately rushed to the Jajpur district headquarters hospital. When his condition deteriorated, the doctors referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The youth succumbed to his injuries on the way to Cuttack.
The incident sparked tension at the spot. Jajpur IIC and tehsildar reached the spot and carried out an inspection.
Local people ascribed the accident to substandard work on the ongoing construction of the entrance gate of Brahmakunda. Notably, the construction work was being carried out by Archeological Survey of India.
