Keonjhar: An unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into a home guard on Deogaon bridge under Ghasipura police limits in Anandapur sub-division of Keonjhar district, a source said Thursday.
The driver of the killer vehicle sped away from the spot after the alleged hit-and-run.
After getting information, police reached the spot and sent the body to Anandapur sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.
As per the source, the deceased home guard has been identified as Suresh Rout who was stationed at Ghasipura police station. He was posted at an ATM counter in Deogaon market Wednesday night along with another home guard.
While the vehicle is yet to be traced, Ghasipura police has launched an investigation into the mishap. The cops are probing what Suresh was doing on the bridge and what led to the incident. A manhunt is on.
Suresh is survived by his wife and a minor son.
