Utkal, KIIT start with crushing wins

Bhubaneswar, Feb. 26: An all-round performance by Om Bikash (century and three wickets) powered Utkal University to a 118-run victory over BPUT in the inaugural Group-A match of the VIth SOA Premier League (SPL) cricket tournament at the SOA University stadium here Thursday.

Riding on Bikash’s  (116, 54b, 7×6, 5×4) knock, Utkal piled up 241 for five in 20 overs. In reply, BPUT could muster only 123 for five.

In a Group-B match, KIIT University trounced Centurion University by 74 runs. KIIT notched up 153 in 19.2 overs with Jivmaya hitting a blistering half century (50, 4×4, 4×6). In reply, Centurion were bowled out for 74 in 15.1 overs with Chandan (2/11) and Kunal Roy (2/25) sharing four wickets. SOA University got a walk-over in the Group-C tie as OUAT did not turn up.
