Bhubaneswar, Sept 27: A day after a woman died inside her car due to suspected heart attack during a road blockade by Utkal Universitvaugh89hqyuqy students at Vani Vihar Square, her relatives Sunday lodged a complaint at Sahid Nagar police station, blaming “mob violence” for the death and demanding arrest of those responsible for the death.
Mukesh Kumar, cousin of the deceased, Suman Sharma (29), alleged that her sister died due to shock on seeing the protesting students coming towards her car (OD-02-D-1039). “I strongly suspect that the cause of her death was mob violence. I request the commissionerate police to arrest the miscreants and give justice to our family,” he said.
The victim’s husband Vinod Kumar, her father, Vakil Sharma, and her mother, who reached Capital Hospital Sunday morning, also blamed the Utkal University students for her death.
Meanwhile, the police said they are investigating the matter. “We would take action after examining the CCTV footage,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said. Sahid Nagar inspector-in-charge Deepak Kumar Mishra, however, said that according to the doctors the victim’s sugar level was very high.
Suman was from Chaindas in Chhattisgarh. She was running an educational institute and two ladies hostels here. She was staying on rent at Gayatri Vihar in Chandrasekharpur area with her cousin Mukesh and his family.
While driving from Acharya Vihar to Vani Vihar, Suman’s car got stuck due to the blockade on the national highway.
A group of protesting students reportedly rushed towards her car, making her try to turn back. She failed to do so and suddenly became unconscious.
The police officials brought her out of the car by breaking the driver-side window. Suman was rushed to Capital Hospital, here where she was declared brought dead.
