Sonepur: Former Principal of a government-run Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) in Subarnapur district was arrested Monday by the vigilance wing of police for allegedly misappropriating Rs 55 lakh government funds.
Soumya Ranjan Kheti, former Principal of OAV, Binika has been arrested for embezzling Rs 55,02,610 government funds under mid-day meal, Mo School Abhijan, and girls’ hostel fund contingencies during the financial year 2021- 22 to 2024-25 by abusing his official power, the Vigilance department said in a statement.
The accused was found to have used Rs 11 lakh out of the misappropriated amount for online betting on ‘Teenpatti’ App.

Kheti was appointed principal of OAV, Binika September 29, 2021. Vigilance department said inputs were received about misappropriation of government funds by Kheti during his tenure.
