Puri: The villagers caught one of the two miscreants who hacked a finance company agent with a billhook and looted cash from him at Bharatipur village near Talabania in this district Thursday.
The injured has been identified as Smruti Ranjan Pati (24) from Chandikhol area. Smruti, who works as a public relation officer with a finance company at Atharnala in this district, has been admitted to the district hospital.
According to reports, Smruti was returning on his motorcycle after collection at 11 am. When he was passing through Bharatipur, two miscreants stopped him and attacked him with a billhook.
Smruti tried to flee the spot with the bag after leaving his bike. But the goons hacked him on his back and shoulder and snatched away the bag.
Hearing the commotion, some locals reached the spot and nabbed one of the miscreants.
Later, they handed over him to the police.
