Villagers nab serial looters, hand them over to police

Nabarangpur: Locals nabbed two serial looters and thrashed them black and blue before handing them over to police at Papadahandi area here in this district Friday.

Sources said, the two robbers had strayed into the village and fleeing after committing loot. Meanwhile, some youths spotted them and chased them after which they were caught and thrashed properly.

The accused have been identified as Santosh Harijan (23) of Nabarangpur town and Lingaraj Mallick (24). Meanwhile another accused identified as Bishudan Harijan managed to escape from the spot.

The trio was serial looters. They had earlier robbed a woman of Rs 1,100 and a mobile phone from a youth. Similarly, another woman was robbed of Rs 6,000.

Police registered a case and seized a motorcycle having no registration number plate, masks and knives from their possession. Meanwhile, a manhunt was launched to nab the absconder.
