Chandbali/Bant: “Our government is giving priority to development of villages and small towns. As a result, villages have turned into hubs of development,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while addressing a public meeting at Chandbali in Bhadrak district Tuesday.
The CM also stated that the state government is spending thousands of crores for rural development. “In the days to come, 20 lakh pucca housing units will be built across the state, which will bring a remarkable change in the scenario of rural development,” he added.
“My government is working for the poor, downtrodden, labourers, farmers and women,” he said.
Reiterating that many developmental projects have been launched in Bhadrak, the CM, who laid the foundation stone for a host of projects including four bridges, said bridges will strengthen communication between Jajpur, Kendrapara and Chandbali.
During his visit to the district, the CM laid foundation stones for a model school, four bridges (to be built at a cost of Rs 1.48 crore), strengthening of a river embankment, an electricity grid and a stadium.
Stating that Bhadrak district usually bears the brunt of the damage during floods every year, he said work to strengthen the left embankment of Baitarani will be undertaken to alleviate flood damage.
“Bhadrak-Chandbali road was a long-pending demand of the people. We have initiated steps for restoration and widening of the road,” he added.
The CM laid foundation stones for 32 projects in three blocks.
The projects included a Biju Setu at a cost of R 2 crore across river Kapali at Alauti, a bridge at a cost of Rs 4.22 crore across Salandi at Srirampur, a model school at a cost of Rs 4.69 crore at Nilok.
MP Arjun Charan Sethi, rural development minister Badrinarayan Patra, MLA Byomkesh Ray and MLA Prafulla Samal were present during the CM’s visit.
