Dhenkanal: Passengers on the Visakhapatnam-Amritsar Express train had a close shave Tuesday morning as the train averted a major mishap. The first two wheels of the engine slipped out of the track near Shyamacharanpur close to the Dhenkanal station.
Luckily, the train driver applied the brakes swiftly and then alerted the Dhenkanal station. Railway officials reached the spot and set things right after an hour of efforts.
Railway sources said workers were repairing the tracks at Shyamacharanpur near Dhenkanal railway station. This may or may not have anything to do with this incident. “The wheels of the engine got dislocated and went off the tracks,” the sources said, adding the problem could have arisen also from possible lack of proper upkeep of the train itself.
After the repair, the train resumed its journey.
