Agartala: A viral referee-players fight video of Tripura State League is doing rounds on social media in which players and a referee can be seen indulging in a fistfight.
Football is a high-intensity sport. We often see players have physical confrontations with each other in a tense match.
However, during one such match in Tripura State League, things turned ugly when players from one team pounced upon a referee.
The viral referee-players fight video was shared on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) by a user named VOIF.

The video begins with an altercation between a player and the referee; suddenly another soccer player comes down aggressively and thrashes the referee. The referee also returns the favours by landing some punches on him. However, the referee is outnumbered as can be seen in the viral referee-players fight video.
Afterwards, the situation was somehow brought under control as other referees and match officials intervened.

It can be mentioned here that in football, an ‘unnecessary physical contact with game official penalty’ occurs when a player makes intentional or intimidating contact with an official. This is a serious foul that results in a 15-yard penalty across all leagues and often also results in the ejection of the offending player.
