Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Water Supply and Sanitation Employees’ Coordination Committee said their strike demanding regularisation of jobs would start tonight.
The committee has warned that they would stop the supply of pipe drinking water across the state.
“Since the last 25 years, as many as 2078 employees have been engaged in the Water Supply Department in the state on contractual basis. We have approached the state government several times for our job regularisation but there was no favourable move so far,” said Purnachandra Dixit.
The employees have conducted a relay strike in the state capital for the last three months to draw the attention of the government.
