Western Odisha: Burla police station sealed for five days after 2 cops test COVID positive

Sambalpur: Burla police station in Sambalpur district was sealed Thursday after two cops of the police station tested positive for COVID-19.

The station will be sealed for five days, said a senior official of the police station.

Reportedly, the COVID-19 test report of the two police personnel came out positive Wednesday night after which the call to seal the police station was taken.

Sources said, the two officials had been feeling ill from the last couple of days. After they developed noticeable COVID-19 symptoms, they underwent COVID test and the report came out positive.

For the safety of the public the district police have sealed the office for five days i.e. from August 13 to August 17. Efforts are on for complete sanitization of the police station, said a police official.

All the police staffers have been sent on quarantine. The local administration has also launched a contact tracing drive.

Swab samples of quarantined officials will be collected during their home isolation period the official added.
