Western Odisha: Two-phase shutdown to start in Sambalpur from Wednesday

Sambalpur: Due to the increase in COVID-19 positive cases, the Sambalpur district administration has declared two-phase shutdown from July 22 to July 31. This shutdown is being implemented across the district to prevent the further spread of the disease, informed District Collector Subham Saxena here Tuesday,

“In view of the increase in the number of cases in Sambalpur district, we need to take some tough steps to carry out contract tracing and checking of symptoms. We also need to ensure isolation of suspected cases and door to door health screening of people. So, we have announced two-phase shutdown in the district for nine days,” said Saxena.

The two-phase Shutdown:

The first-phase shutdown will continue from July 22 to July 25 for four days.

Phase-I

During the phase-1 shutdown, intra-district movement of public and private transport will be restricted. Similarly, shops, establishments, government and private institutions will remain closed. However, essential services will be exempted from the restrictions.

The second phase shutdown will continue from July 26 to July 31 for five days.

Phase-II

During the phase-II shutdown government establishments, utilities and essential services, economic and other activities will be permitted to function. Vegetables and grocery shops will be allowed to open.

During the complete shutdown in the first phase, only the following activities shall be allowed:

Activities allowed during phase-2 shutdown:

Government of India establishments

Government of Odisha establishments

Utilities and essential services

Transport

Vegetables, Food & Grocery

Economic and other activities
