When ‘Chandu’ stopped a cobra from killing 4 of master’s family

Baripada: At a time when faithfulness and loyalty are a scarce resource, a cat displayed its loyalty to its owner by saving four lives of his family from a poisonous snake. The reptile was trying to sneak in to the house. The incident took place late Tuesday night at Bijayramchandrapur in Baripada municipality.

According to reports, a cobra was trying to sneak into the house of Biswajit Parida in Bijayramchandrapur late Tuesday night. As luck would have it, Chandu, the pet cat of Parida, was outside of the house and bumped into it.

Losing no time, the white cat jumped out and put up a stiff resistance to the snake.
The snake was furiously hissing to scare the cat away while the latter was making all-out efforts to check the reptile from entering the house. Parida’s mother got up on hearing the noisy cacophony of hissing and meowing, which had been going on for several minutes.
As she rushed out of the house to know what the noise was all about, she was shocked to see the pet checkmating the poisonous snake.

Parida immediately informed Krushnachandra Gochhayat, an activist of the snake helpline, who rescued the snake.
Parida was all praise for his pet to see his loyalty. He said Chandu has been staying in his house as a family member for over a year. “It saved our lives by risking its life. We all are indebted to Chandu.”

The loyalty of the cat has been the talk of the town and a large number of people are now thronging Parida’s house to take a glimpse of the pet.  PNN
