When mudras talk for themselves….

Bhubaneswar, July 11: Young Odissi dancers from across the state enthralled audience with stunning performances at an event at Rabindra Mandap, Tuesday. It was organised by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Nrutiyabasa. More than 50 dancers performed at the event. The objective of the festival was to discover new talents in Odissi and create an opportunity for the budding stars and let them perform on a bigger platform. Informing about the event, Ratikant Mohapatra, said, “Through this dance event, we
have been trying to give young learners a platform to show their skills. Upasaranam is a commitment to pass on the gifts of traditional art and artistic endeavours that we continue to hold in trust.” The major attractions of the event included group dances. The program started with Mangalacharan Ganesh Vandana based on Raga Mishra Shudha Bibhas and Tala Aadi Tala. The performance was choreographed by Raitkant Mahapatra. The excitement among the audience increased with the subsequent performances, including Pallavi based on Raga Vasant
and Ek tali, Mahadev based on Raag Mailka and tala Malika, Pallavi based Megh Raag and Jhumpa tal, Swagatam Krishna based on raag Mohana and Khemata tal. The programme ended with a Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra composition. It was choreographed on Vande Mataram and was performed with Desh raga and Eka tali. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Pratibha Ray, Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Guru Lakshmikant Palit, Guru Satchidananda Das and Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, director, Srjan. The programme was compared by En. Srinivas Ghatuari.
