Hyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda, the veteran actor of South Indian cinema celebrates his birthday May 9. He has won the hearts of audiences with his performances in several South Cinema films.

Vijay was born May 9, 1989 in a Telugu family. His father’s name is Devarakonda Govardhan Rao, a TV artist, and mother’s name is Madhavi Devarakonda. Vijay’s younger brother Anand Devarkonda is a film actor. Vijay says his family used to call him a rowdy every time he did something not approved by them. Over time, he started to use the term for himself and his fans.
Vijay made his film debut by starring in Ravi Babu’s romantic comedy Nuvvila in 2011.
Vijay’s first lead role was in Pelli Choopulu, a romantic coming-of-age entertainer directed by Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam, with Ritu Varma as the female lead. The film went on to be commercially successful and won the Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 64th National Film Awards as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu. He received praise for his realistic portrayal of a lazy and unmotivated chef.

Apart from acting, Vijay is also a filmmaker and owns a production company called ‘King of the Hill Entertainment’. He produced the film Meeku Maathrame Cheptha (2019).
