Jharsuguda: Police Saturday arrested a man on charge of shooting down his wife over a family feud at Puruna Basti in the district. The accused was identified as Dilip Sahu alias Lalu (35) while the deceased was identified as Bindu Sahu.
Police also seized a pistol and two bullets from the crime spot while no exact reason of the crime was revealed yet. However, a preliminary probe suspected it to be the outcome of a family feud, SDPO Bijay Kumar Nanda said.
A case of murder was registered and Lalu produced in court, police said. Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
According to police, Lalu, in an inebriated state, returned home late night. A fight broke out between the two over some issue during dinner. Lalu lost his temper and took a pistol kept at home and shot Bindu down.
The bullets struck Bindu on her forehead leading to her death on the spot. Police with the help of a scientific team reached the village and launched an investigation. Bindu has left behind three daughters, sources said.
Meanwhile, the crime added heat to the illegal possession of pistols in Jharsuguda town. Every seven of ten houses possess pistols here, sources alleged. Pistols and mausars from Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are illegally transported to Jharsuguda. PNN
