Mumbai: The tradition for married women in India once they tie the nuptial knot is to adopt their husband’s surnames. This has been going on for long and doesn’t look like changing in the near future also. There are certain exceptions though with some of the more modern minded girls not ready to relinquish their family surnames and maintaining it with their hubby’s title.
The Hindi film industry is also not an exception. However, lately actors like Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have just added their husband’s surnames to become Sonam K Ahuja and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
One actor who, however, is not ready to change her surname name is Deepika Padukone. She has categorically said that under no circumstances will she alter any portion of her name, because it has helped her gain fame and popularity in the film industry. She has continued with the same name even after marriage.
But to express his deep love for Deepika, husband Ranveer Singh has gone a step further. Undeterred by wife Deepika’s decision not to change her name, Ranveer has said to close associates that he has no problems in adopting the surname ‘Padukone’.
They say love has no limits… Ranveer has proved it once more.
